Labiaplasty is performed to restore the vagina to its natural appearance due to oversize and sagging of the inner and outer labia.
The inner labia minora (labia minora) are curved structures extending from the top of the clitoris to below the vaginal opening. It’s natural for the labia minora to extend slightly beyond the outer labia, but if they extend too far beyond the outer labia, this can compromise the aesthetic appearance and cause functional problems. The procedure not only achieves a natural vaginal appearance, but also allows the patient to wear bikinis and pants more comfortably, reducing the risk of vaginal infections and poor or inadequate vaginal hygiene.
In some cases, the outer labia, also known as the labia majora, may be structurally longer, larger, or asymmetrical than normal. This can cause the labia majora to stretch during intercourse due to penis thrusting, causing pain. In these cases, the labia minora can be reduced to their normal size and restored to their natural appearance.
Treatment Process
Labiaplasty surgery does not damage the hymen and does not affect sexual intercourse, orgasm, pregnancy, or childbirth.
The procedure, which can be performed under local or general anesthesia with the patient’s consent and the surgeon’s approval, takes approximately one hour. Since the sutures used during the procedure are dissolvable, there is no need for post-operative removal. No dressing is applied to the area after the surgery. The patient will not experience any problems with urination after the surgery, and there will be no excessive pain or burning in the surgical area. A slight burning sensation and tenderness in the 2-3 days following the procedure is normal. Patients can begin showering 2 days after the procedure. The healing of the sutures takes approximately one week. Sexual intercourse is permitted 3-4 weeks after the surgery. The scar will heal unnoticeably approximately one month after the surgery.
