Abdominoplasty is a tummy tuck procedure suitable for individuals who have not responded to diet and exercise, have given birth several times, or have sagging abdominal fat. If the problem area is limited to the area below the navel, a mini-abdominoplasty is performed; if it involves the entire abdomen, an abdominoplasty is performed; and if it is large enough to cover the waist, a circumferential abdominoplasty is performed. Those considering weight loss or childbirth are advised to wait before surgery.

How is the Procedure Performed?
Abdominoplasty, which is not a standard procedure, removes fat and loose skin from the abdomen and tightens and firms the abdominal muscles. This procedure is not a treatment for obesity, and the patient should lose as much weight as possible before the procedure. A full abdominoplasty takes 2 to 5 hours, while a mini-abdominoplasty is completed in 1-2 hours. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia.

What is the Treatment Duration?
The postoperative hospital stay is 2 or 3 nights for a full abdominoplasty. A one-night hospital stay is usually sufficient for a mini-abdominoplasty. A drain is placed in the surgical area for 24-48 hours to drain any leaks and prevent blood accumulation, and a pressure-adjustable abdominal corset is worn. This corset will immobilize the surgical area and reduce swelling. After the surgery, you should sleep with your torso elevated 45 degrees from your waist to prevent tension in your abdominal area. After a few hours, you can begin a liquid, gas-free diet.

From the third day onward, any accumulated swelling in the body begins to decrease. When you first stand up after surgery, you should walk with your waist bent and lean forward. Afterward, you can walk upright in a normal position after approximately 10-12 days, increasing your height a few degrees each day. You can gradually return to your social life and shower after two weeks. It is recommended that you do not swim in the pool or sea for at least four weeks, and that you avoid strenuous activities such as tanning beds, saunas, steam rooms, sunbathing, or sports for six weeks.

The surgical scar may be red and itchy for the first three to four months. After six months, the scar will lighten, but even after two years, a thin scar will be visible. Care is taken to ensure that this scar is within the bikini line.
