Forehead and facelift procedures, typically performed on men and women over 40, address sagging and wrinkles caused by aging. To achieve this, the skin must retain its elasticity. This procedure eliminates visible lines around the forehead, mouth, and nose, and addresses sagging in the eyelids, cheeks, and chin. In cases of aging-related displacements, such as fat shifting from the cheekbones to the cheeks, the tissues are repositioned or procedures such as fat injections or silicone implants are used.
How is the Procedure Performed?
The scope of the facelift procedure is determined based on individual needs and expectations. Performed under general anesthesia, incisions are made on the scalp, behind the ear, and at the junction of the ear and cheek. This conceals scars.
In a forehead lift, a thin incision is made at the scalp line, where the hairline meets the forehead, and the skin is tightened. Excess skin is excised and sutured to the scalp, completing the procedure.
Treatment Process
After surgery, a head dressing is applied, leaving the eyes, nose, and mouth open, and cold packs are placed on the cheeks. Silicone tubes may be placed to prevent blood accumulation in the tissue and are removed within two days. The dressings are completely removed within three days, and the stitches are removed within five to seven days. Hair can be washed during this period.
The patient can be up and about on the second day and return to normal activities a week later, once the swelling has subsided. Strenuous exercise and excessive sunlight should be avoided for two months. It is important to avoid showering for a certain period and to avoid bathing with very hot water for one week after showering is permitted.
It is important to avoid straining the stitches, dressing them, sleeping face down, and bending the head forward.
